Midori’s Business Playbook: 12 Unfiltered Truths Behind My Success

I’ve built multiple companies. Led two successful exits. Helped hundreds of women scale past 7 figures. And here’s what I’ll tell you – it’s not about luck. It’s about living and leading with intention—and protecting your time, energy, and joy like your business depends on it… because it does.

Here are 12 unfiltered truths I’ve lived by to grow profitable companies and a life I love.

1. Ruthless Focus on High-Value Actions

If it doesn’t generate momentum or ROI—it’s not on my calendar.

  • I don’t waste time doing “busy work.”

  • I train my clients to spot what moves the needle now—and go all in.

  • Everything else? Delegate it. Automate it. Or delete it.

2. Sayonara, Drama

Drama is expensive—emotionally, mentally, and financially.

  • I don’t entertain chaos, gossip, or people who drain my energy.

  • I protect my mindset so I can lead clearly and powerfully.

  • Don’t let someone’s emotional circus become your full-time job.

3. Make Quantum Leaps (Not Tiny Tweaks)

I don’t believe in crawling toward success. I leap.

  • I look for bold moves: strategic collabs, well-placed investments, and big swings.

  • My exits didn’t happen by accident. They happened because I thought 10x.

  • Ask yourself: What move would future-you thank you for?

4. Obsess Over the User Experience

Whether it’s a PowerSprint, a Zoom room, or an email—every interaction counts.

  • I'm constantly asking, How do I make this feel easier, better, more delightful?

  • I take feedback seriously. Then I iterate.

  • Women stay in our world because it feels designed for them.

This is how you build trust—and a brand that sticks.

5. Upgrade YOU, Always

Your company will only grow to the level of your growth.

  • I’m obsessed with self-improvement—from mindset to leadership to communication.

  • I read, I train, I get coached. Not because I’m not good enough—because I’m not done.

  • The best investment I’ve ever made? Me.

6. Guard Your Time + Energy Like a CEO

  • Time is a non-renewable resource—spend it with care.

  • I do regular energy audits to cut out what’s draining or distracting.

  • Work hours have boundaries. Enjoyment is not a luxury—it’s a strategy.

When I’m off, I’m off. When I’m on, I’m on fire.

7. Live by Your Personal Mission Statement

Mine?

“My journey through life is uplifting and fun, as I stay connected to my family and loved ones, while using my optimism and skills to inspire others to reach their potential.”
  • This is how I make decisions.

  • This is how I stay in alignment.

  • This is how I build companies that don’t just make money—but mean something.

8. Be Intentional About Your Circle

Your circle is your strategy.

  • I have two powerful tribes:

    • My professional circle: inspiring, authentic, powerhouse women who dream big and support each other.

    • My personal circle: lifelong friends who have nothing to do with my business—and couldn’t care less about my LinkedIn stats.

Some say only surround yourself with “level-up” people. I say b.s - Instead, surround yourself with truth. People who ground you, challenge you, and bring you back to what matters.

9. Make Enjoyment a Priority (Not an Afterthought)

My favorite thing in the world? Vacationing with my husband and kids. That’s sacred time.

  • I block real time off—not just pretend downtime where I sneak in Slack replies.

  • I fully unplug with my girlfriends who don’t care what I do for work. It’s freedom. It’s fun. It’s fuel.

Joy isn’t a reward for hard work. It’s part of the strategy that keeps you going.

10. Tune Out the Noise (and Shiny Objects)

Tempted by the next big platform, partnership, or pivot?

Pause.

  • I check in: Does this align with my Personal Mission Statement? Or is this a detour?

  • I don’t chase everything—I choose what’s aligned.

  • Focus is your greatest power. Use it wisely.

11. Make the Decision. Then Go All In

Nothing crushes your confidence like half-decisions.

  • I don’t dabble—I commit.

  • When I decide, I go all in with energy and ownership.

  • Indecision is the real risk—it costs time, money, and momentum.

12. Do the Right Thing. Always

Success without integrity is a fail in my book.

  • I believe in kindness, compassion, and treating people with care.

  • Life is long. Reputations are built (or broken) in small moments.

  • The way I lead reflects who I am—and who I want to attract.
